Pallet Racks in Boise, ID for Mixed Inventory
Pallet racks in Boise are often best planned around selective storage when the inventory includes many SKUs. Mixed distribution needs a layout that reflects different pallet sizes, load weights, and picking requirements. Start with what is actually stored, then establish the bay dimensions and the truck aisles.
We design and supply warehouse pallet racks for both small industrial bays and larger distribution buildings. Installation is performed by experienced installation crews we schedule and manage, with the scope established alongside the storage plan.
Size Warehouse Pallet Racks Around Real Loads
A 42-inch frame is a starting point for a pallet measuring 48 inches deep. A 96-inch beam accommodates two 40-inch pallets; 108-inch beams are another option, and 144-inch beams accommodate three 40-inch pallets. Actual pallet measurements remain the basis for the selection.
Height comes from building clear height and forklift lift height, not from a preferred rack size alone. The heaviest pallet matters when selecting beams and frames. Beam capacity applies to each beam pair per level, and frame capacity changes with height and beam spacing.
Show us pallet overhang, load height and the heaviest combination placed on one level. Longer beams may hold more pallets, but the beam pair still needs the capacity for that full load. Frame ratings must match the final beam spacing. Mark receiving lanes and truck turns on the drawing before counting the positions available for saleable stock.
Fit mixed inventory to the building
West Boise around Fairview Avenue and Cloverdale includes older industrial and flex space. Most available spaces are under 15,000 square feet and multi-tenant. In those buildings, selective rack can be considered alongside cantilever for long stock or carton flow for case picks rather than forcing all inventory into pallet bays.
Airport-area buildings along Gowen Road and Eisenman Road, and big-box buildings in Nampa and Caldwell, create a different height and aisle discussion. Southeast Boise also has high-tech and semiconductor suppliers. Across these settings, mixed inventory remains a reason to begin with selective storage.
Leave truck requirements in the plan
Counterbalance aisles are generally about 12–13 feet, reach-truck aisles about 8–10 feet, and very narrow aisle arrangements about 5–6 feet. Those ranges are planning references; verify the actual truck before laying out rows. Building area alone does not establish the pallet position count.
For a non-air-conditioned Boise warehouse, installation staging should account for hot summer afternoons. Winter snow and freezing weather can affect dock and installation scheduling. We review these conditions with bay count and site readiness, while the quote confirms supply timing and the proposed installation work.
